Public opportunities
The European Master in Migration and Intercultural Relations (EMMIR) is an international Erasmus Mundus Joint Master's programme coordinated by the University of Oldenburg in Germany and delivered through a consortium of partner institutions across Europe, Africa and Asia. The programme focuses on advanced interdisciplinary education and research concerning international migration, intercultural relations, mobility, diversity, social transformation and the experiences of people and communities affected by migration. EMMIR's academic network connects institutions in Germany, Norway, the Czech Republic, Slovenia, Ghana, Uganda, South Africa and India. Its international structure enables students to experience different academic environments, undertake international mobility and explore migration from multiple geographic and disciplinary perspectives. The two-year master's programme integrates academic coursework, research training, practical internships and an independent master's thesis. Its educational approach combines social scientific research with professional competencies relevant to migration policy, international development, humanitarian work, public administration and related fields. EMMIR is supported through the European Union's Erasmus Mundus framework. Its scholarships are intended to support academically qualified international students and encourage cooperation among higher education institutions across different regions of the world. The programme is administered through the University of Oldenburg, with admission decisions involving its international consortium partners.
